Yuza Distillery: Crafting Authentic Japanese Single Malt Whisky with Precision and Passion
Established in 2018 by Kinryu Co. at the foot of Mt. Chokai in Yamagata Prefecture, Yuza Distillery is Japan’s third whisky distillery in the Tohoku region. Known for its pristine snowmelt water, Yuza embodies meticulous craftsmanship and the Japanese spirit of monozukuri.

Production Philosophy
Combined with traditional Scottish distillation methods, Utilizes bespoke Forsyth pot stills and Canadian Douglas fir fermentation tanks, enhancing aroma and flavor complexity. Focuses exclusively on fully matured single malts, with a small annual output of 105 kiloliters.

Yuza’s identity is encapsulated in the philosophy “TLAS”:

Tiny: A compact distillery site of 4,550 m² and a cozy 620 m² production building that prioritizes detailed, artisanal processes rather than mass production.

A Young, Innovative Team
Breaking from conventional whisky industry norms, Yuza is powered by a young, gender-equal team, including female graduates from Yamagata University. Led by President Masaharu Sasaki, this fresh workforce fosters innovation and a unique distillery character unburdened by traditional whisky industry conventions.
